How to realize a successful mixing with a concrete mixer?
Make a reinforced slab, the foundations of a fence wall, a masonry staircase. requires a large quantity of concrete. The concrete mixer allows you to prepare the mixture quickly and without getting tired. A model TDCM500 or TDCM600 liters diesel type is generally sufficient for medium-duty work importance in individual houses and suburban construction site. For a large-scale project, it is better to choose self loader concrete mixer RDCM350 or RDCM500 with water tank capacity of 140 liters or more.

How to realize a successful mixing with a concrete mixer?
Your realization in 4 steps:
- The ingredients to bring together: Sand.
Concrete requires dry river or quarry sand. Marine sand should be avoided due to its salinity and extremely fine grains.
The masonry sand must be clean. If you have any doubts,
wash it with plenty of water and let it dry.
2.Gravel.
This aggregate characterizes concrete (mortar does not contain it). Available, like sand, in several grain sizes (5 to 30mm), it gives strength to the mix. For the majority of work carried out in individual houses, gravel of 5 to 20 mm is used.
Grains larger than 20 mm are used, most often mixed, in large construction, you will need our self loader mixer truck SD3200M SD4000M SD6500M. For grains even larger, try our refurbished concrete batching plant CP90D modular type, easy to install and maintain.
- Binder
Cement is the main binder used for concrete. Common cements, CEM I or CEM II, are suitable for most construction work. For concrete batching plant, there is weighing and storage tank alone for addictives like water reducing agent. The ingredients to gather (continued)
Different admixtures can be added to concrete to modify or improve certain characteristics:
workability, plasticity, resistance to low temperatures…
Admixtures For what use?
Antifreeze:Allows use down to -4°C in the morning (useless if the temperature is -3°C or even lower at night).
Plasticizers:Reduce the appearance of efflorescence, densify surfaces, provide flexibility, and favor a significant reduction of water…
Setting Retarders:Promote the workability of concrete (longer working time).
Powder Pigments Decorative: for concretes intended to remain exposed.
- Correct mixing ratio or the right dosages.
For the foundation concrete of 300 kg/m3, the mix proportion is as follows: the amount of cement is 135 liters, there is no lime, the sand is 515 liters (with a particle size of 0/5 mm), the gravel is 770 liters (with a particle size of 5/20 mm), and the water is 145 liters.Or you can add more cement if concrete slump test does not pass. Regular ratio is 1cement, 2sand, 3gravel.
5.Prepare the concrete mixer with a clean drum
The presence of vegetable waste, debris of any kind would compromise the quality of your concrete.
Check the condition of the drum and clean it with a jet. If necessary, tap the drum inside and out with a hammer.
6.A stable base
Choose a flat and stabilized area. Make sure your concrete mixer is well-supported on its (or its) stand(s). If necessary, secure the machine with wooden panels.
To limit back and forth trips (quickly tiring),place cement, sand, and gravel near the concrete mixer. Also, prepare a garden hose connected to a garden faucet.
7.Make a good mix
Start the engine.
Using the steering wheel, while allowing it to rotate, adjust the inclination of the tilting drum of
TDCM500 or TDCM600 to a minimum of 20° (or 30°) towards the rear.
8.Make a good mix (continued)
Pour the components
In the moving drum, pour at least 10 liters of water to thoroughly moisten everything.
Pour the gravel and then the sand next. For a 35 kg bag of cement, it is generally 20 to 23 shovelfuls of gravel and 10 to 12 of sand.
Add the cement, which should disperse and mix uniformly with the gravel and sand.
Then, while monitoring the consistency, incorporate the remaining water.
9.Stop at the right time
Concrete should be soft but not liquid. It should have the consistency of a flan, be greasy and sticky like bread dough. If water remains on the surface of the concrete, it is too fluid.
P.S. Two to three minutes are usually enough to prepare the concrete in the mixer. If mixing lasts too long, the mixture loses its consistency and may crumble.
Once the concrete is ready, release the steering wheel by operating the lever with your foot. Tilt the container, still rotating, and pour the mixture into the wheelbarrow to transport it to the work site.
It is not recommended to grease the pinion or crown of the concrete mixer. It’s worth using dry gears, because the grease would amalgamate the grains of sand and turn the crown into an abrasive wheel!
10.Clean after use A clean tank
It is recommended to clean the concrete mixer as soon as possible, before the concrete dries.
To clean it properly, pour a bucket of water (or more depending on the capacity of the tank) and half a bucket of gravel into the tank. You can also use brick rubble, concrete blocks, tiles, etc. Let it run for 5 to 10 minutes.
Then, empty the tank and rinse it thoroughly with a water jet. Don’t forget to use the jet on the outside of the tank and the toothed ring, as well as the nylon brush. Also wash the engine cover, but with a damp sponge so as not to risk spraying the interior.
